Nesbit is a rural community between Hernando and Horn Lake, close to I-55 and not far from Arkabutla Lake. Lake Cormorant and Walls sit on the western side of DeSoto County, near Highway 61. All three give you more space, homes on acreage and a country feel, while still being a reasonable drive from Southaven, Hernando and Memphis.

A house on a few acres is a different purchase than a house in a subdivision. Before you buy, check:

• Septic and well: many rural homes aren't on city sewer or water. Get the septic system inspected.
